Brexit Upheaval 1

Brexit FAQs and Live Updates
Live Updates:
- 19th January –
- DPD is still suspended as a courier option on our site. We anticipate that they will remain suspended for at least another 24 hours while we iron out the creases and make sure the process is running smoothly.
- We are still working on a solution to resolve the backlog of DPD orders for which we need the support of a third party. Resolving the backlog of orders remains our top priority.
- 18th January 10am –
- DPD have started collecting new orders again, we are working closely with them to get these orders collected and ensure this process is running smoothly. Please note this doesn’t include the current backlog of orders.
- We are closing in on a solution to get the backlog of orders delivered and we will hopefully have these orders out by the end of the week.
- 15th January 11.00am –
- As of this morning, we have not received any updates from DPD regarding their suspension of collecting orders.
- We are still working through the backlog of orders. We are working hard to find a solution to either ship with alternative couriers or to get DPD back up and running shortly.
- We have found that some items are being returned to us due to certain ingredients which are now restricted by EU customs.
- For EU countries, we have now removed all products containing restricted ingredients from our site, so going forward customers should not face this issue.
- Rest assured we are getting in touch with customers whose orders contained restricted items.
- 14th January 10.40am – We are continuing to suspend DPD on our site whilst we continue to prioritise existing orders. We are working on a resolution to get all existing DPD orders out to customers.
- 13th January 2021, 11.00am – DPD has extended their suspension for collecting orders and will be reviewing the suspension on Friday 15th January. We have decided to suspend DPD as a courier on our site for all EU countries whilst we prioritise existing customer orders. DHL are collecting and shipping (with minor delays) – however, please note DHL are more expensive.
- 12th January 2021 – All EU orders placed with DHL as the selected courier are now being collected and shipped. Please note delivery may still be delayed due to congestion at borders. Our other couriers are still not collecting orders and we are in constant discussion with them about how to resolve this.
- 11th January 2021 – No further updates to report.
- 8th January 2021 – Board members at British Corner Shop are working on a strategy to resolve by the end of today and an update will follow. We are also creating a ‘service updates’ page so that the information is listed and clear going forward.
- 7th January 2021 – Our courier partners have suspended collections to validate the data they have in their system for them to successfully resume their services. In addition to this, they are seeing delays and congestion at UK ports and more rigid requirements for channel crossings.
- 4th – 7th January 2021 – Our Technical Team is still working on resolving the IT integration issue.
- 30th – 31st December 2020 – Our IT department and system specialists push through many last-minute changes to help ease the Brexit transition with the goal of dispatching orders on the 4th Jan. This type of integration is usually done over 2 – 3 weeks and must go through serious testing. However, we did not have the time to do this as the border closures meant we had your orders and needed to get them shipped as soon as possible.
- 29th December 2020 – The EU and UK Government agreed on a free trade deal for Brexit. While celebrating this deal, we knew that every parcel which was unable to be collected would now need to go through rigorous Brexit changes.
- 23rd December 2020 – Our couriers partners advised they would not collect any orders until 4th Jan. Which meant we had pallets of orders sitting in our warehouse packed and ready to go.
- 21st December 2020 – the EU closed its borders to the UK and couriers refused to collect any parcels. We continued to dispatch parcels as we assumed this would be rectified and orders would be collected before Christmas.
